Seachtain na Gaeilge i bhFine Gall 2020

Beidh ceiliúradh den chéad scoth le haghaidh Sheachtain na Gaeilge againn i bhFine Gall arís i mbliana agus clár iontach d’imeachtaí éagsúla á sheoladh ag Comhairle Contae Fhine Gall. Beidh an fhéile idirnáisiúnta Ghaeilge seo ar siúl idir 1 Márta agus 17 Márta, agus mana na féile ná triail a bhaint as an gcuid Gaeilge atá agat - Bain Triail Aisti. Beidh imeachtaí curtha ar siúl ag an gComhairle i Halla an Chontae, Sord, i Leabharlanna Áitiúla agus eile agus beidh imeachtaí ar fud an Chontae eagraithe ag grúpaí teanga. Táthar in ann teacht ar chlár imeachtaí Sheachtain na Gaeilge i bhFine Gall ar shuíomh gréasáin na Comhairle www.Fingal.ie.

Beidh Ceol, Craic agus Gaeilge in Áras Contae an Aitriam, Sord, Dé Máirt, ar 10 Márta ó 6.45 go 9pm, le ceoltóirí Paudie O’Connor, Aoife Ni Chaoimh agus Caoimhín O Fearghail agus ceoltóirí ó Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Átha Cliath. Ó cheantar Shliabh Luachra i gContae Chiarraí a thagann Paudie O Connor agus Aoife Ní Chaoimh. Is saineolaithe iad ar cheoil an cheantar sin agus cloistear go rialta iad ar chláir radio ar fud na cruinne. Is ceoltóir ildánach den chéad scoth ón Rinn, Contae Phort Láirge é Caoimhín Ó Fearghail. Tá cáil air mar phíobaire ach seinneann sé an fliúit, an giotár agus an basúcaí ar ard chaighdeán chomh maith. Beidh Ceoltóirí Comhaltas ann freisin, agus iad ag súil le Fleadh Laighean ag teacht go Sord Iúil 2020. Tá fáilte roimh chách agus beidh sólaistí ar fáil. Más rud é go bhfuil amhrán ann gur mhian leat casadh, beidh míle fáilte romhat!

Beidh Lón le Gaeilge lonnaithe sa séipéal dochreidte álainn i gCaisleáin Shoird Dé Máirt 3 Márta ó 1pm agus beidh siúlóid treoraithe i Diméin Ard Ghiolláin ar an 12 Márta ag tosú ar 11am. Féachann gairdíní Ard Ghiolláin amach ar Mhuir Éireann agus tá radharc dochreidte ann.



I measc na himeachtaí a bheidh ar siúl i leabharlanna áitiúla, beidh ceol a gcasfaidh Antaine Ó Faracháin agus Nollaig Mac Cárthaigh é, i mBaile Bhlainséir ar an 12 Márta ag 1pm. Beidh Ciorcal Comhrá le filíocht i mBaile Brigín Déardaoin 12 ag 6.45pm agus beidh Ronaldo Fanzini i mBaile Bhlainséir 19. Beidh Maidin Spraoi i Leabharlann Mhullach Íde 11 ó 10.30 – 12 le ciorcail cainte, ceol agus cluichí teanga. Beidh Óga Yóga Yoga as Gaeilge ar siúl i 3 Leabharlann freisin.

Dúirt an Príomhfheidhmeannach, AnnMarie Farrelly “Is deis iontach í Seachtain na Gaeilge ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar Teanga agus ar Chultúir na Tíre. Beidh an chultúr sin á cheiliúradh i Sord I mí Iúil nuair a thagann Fleadh Laighean go Sord agus tá Comhairle contae Fhine Gall an-sásta tacú leis. Tá áthas mór orm an deis seo a bheith agam fáilte a chur roimh Ceoltóirí Comhaltas agus muintir Fhine Gall go Halla an Chontae le linn Sheachtain na Gaeilge.”

Seachtain na Gaeilge in Fingal 2020

Seachtain na Gaeilge will be celebrated in style in Fingal again in 2020 as Fingal County Council launches an exciting and varied programmed of events. This international Irish Language festival runs from 1-17 March with its motto encouraging everyone to use whatever Irish they have – Bain Triail Aisti. Council events are taking place in venues including County Hall Swords, Local Libraries, Swords Castle and Ardgillan Demesne and many other events are being organised by Irish language groups throughout the County. The Seachtain na Gaeilge i bhFine Gall programme is available on the Council’s website www.Fingal.ie.

On Tuesday 10th March at the Atrium County Hall Swords, there will be Ceol, Craic and Gaeilge with musicians Paudie O’Connor, Aoife Ni Chaoimh and Caoimhín O Fearghail and musicians from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Dublin. Paudie O Connor and Aoife Ní Chaoimh are an accordion and fiddle duet from Sliabh Luachra Kerry. They are steeped in the musical tradition of East Kerry and North Cork and they can be heard regularly on radio and television. Caoimhín Ó Fearghail is a multi-instrumentalist who comes from An Rinn in the west Waterford Gaeltacht. He plays the pipes, flute and fiddle and was the 2012 recipient of the TG4 Young Musician of the Year award (Gradam Ceoil TG4). There will be musicians from Dublin Comhaltas also as they look forward to welcoming the Leinster Fleadh to Swords in July 2020. Everyone is welcome and there will be light refreshments served. Participation is encouraged so if you have a song you’d like to share, here’s your chance!

The stunning chapel in Swords Castle will be the setting for a Lón le Gaeilge on Tuesday 3rd from 1pm and there will be a guided walk in Ardgillan Demesne on Thursday 12th at 11am. Come along and join Head Gardener Dominica McKevitt and enjoy the beautiful grounds and stunning views over the Irish Sea.

Events in local libraries include music by Antaine ó Faracháin and Nollaig Mac Cathaigh in Blanchardstown 12th at 1pm. There will be a Ciorcal Comhrá with poetry in Balbriggan the 12th at 6.45pm and Ronaldo Fanzini will be in Blanchardstown on the 19th. Malahide will host a Maidin Spraoi on Wednesday 11th from 10.30 – 12 with conversation, music and games. There will be Óga Yóga Yoga as Gaeilge also in three Libraries.

• Ronaldo Fanzini brings a fun Circus event for all ages to Blanchardstown Library Thursday March 19th 3.30pm –4.30pm

That culture will be celebrated in Swords in July when the Leinster Fleadh comes to the town and Fingal County Council is proud to support this. I am delighted to welcome Comhaltas musicians and the Fingal Community to County Hall during Seachtain na Gaeilge.”
