A forum for members of the community to raise issues directly with Fingal County Council officials and Senior Gardai will take place:
Wednesday 18th April 2018 from 7.30pm to 9pm at Bracken Court Hotel, Balbriggan for North County area
Now Balbriggan people have a real opportunity to engage and raise concerns. Last November following a protest at Balbriggan Garda Station that came to nothing with no follow up, as I said at the time the only way to deal with crime and anti-social behaviour is to engage with those responsible in an open forum where action can be taken. You can read Novembers blog post here: Balbriggan people demand action on Gangs & Crime.
If the same numbers and people came to next Wednesdays meeting and properly engaged and spoke up to rise their concerns the authorities will see that we love our town and want any issues sorted out and to show other communities that we care about our town and attitude towards it and dispel any false or fake news stories about Balbriggan.
Cllr Malachy Quinn gave Balbriggan.net the following statement:
"It is important that council committees such as the Fingal Joint Policing Committee (JPC) engage locally with communities, the holding of a public meeting such as this, affords individuals, residents associations & local traders an opportunity to raise various issues directly with Senior Gardai, as well as Senior Operations staff in Fingal. As a member of the Fingal Joint Policing Committee, I had called for such public meetings to be held in all the towns across North Fingal. I would greatly encourage people to attend & have your voice heard"

Each year, the Fingal Joint Policing Committee host a series of public meetings across the county. These meetings offer an opportunity for members of the public to meet with Senior Gardai and Local Authority officials to discuss matters of local relevance which fall under the remit of the JPC.
What are Joint Policing Committees?
Joint Policing Committees (JPCs) aim to develop greater consultation, cooperation and synergy on policing and crime issues between An Garda Síochána, Local Authorities and elected local representatives. JPCs also facilitate the participation of the community and voluntary sectors in this regard.
