Brendan Ryan, Labour Party TD for Dublin Fingal, is calling on the Gardai, Fingal County Council, Irish Rail, Dublin Bus and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated plan is in place to keep our coastal communities safe this Summer season.
Ryan “We have seen in recent years, incidences of gross anti--social behaviour and criminality in our coastal communities during the Summer months, with weekends and Bank Holidays being the key times. It is five years since a high profile riot of youths took place on Portmarnock beach and whilst such large incidences haven’t occurred since, there has been an awful lot of very serious crimes and anti social behaviour which has taken place in the intervening Summers. The Dart line ensures youths with their minds set on causing mayhem can get to communities in Fingal very quickly. I will be raising this matter at the Joint Policing Committee Meeting this Wednesday and asking for a plan for an Garda Siochana as to how they will deploy their resources at crucial times to ensure that locals and visitors alike can enjoy the wonderful amenities of our beaches from Portmarnock to Balbriggan.”
