MetroLink is coming, Will impact Balbriggan, have your say.

MetroLink is coming - please make a submission before the deadline, which is next Friday 11th May. While the service wont come as far as Balbriggan this will have a massive impact and positive influence on Balbriggaan Commuters. Imagine being able to park your car at a Park & Ride facility just north of Swords and travel with ease to Dublin City Centre via Dublin Airport, DCU and the Mater Hospital or further south to Dundrum. Metrolink proposes to link with all the existing services including DART and Luas.

The MetroLink plans were announced in March and we have until Friday 11th May to make submissions with regard to the proposed route. Please take a few minutes to make a submission as we need to show that there is massive support in Balbriggan and north County Dublin for Metro Link and to get this service delivered.

Submissions can be made on-line (the following link), by email to consultations@metrolink.ie or by post to: MetroLink Consultations, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Parkgate Business Centre, Parkgate Street, Dublin 8, D08 DK10.

We need as many submissions to go in as possible, even if just to say that you fully support Metro Link, that it is about time that Balbrigan and north County Dublin is linked to Dublin City Centre via Dublin Airport, DCU and the Mater Hospital; and that it is vital that this project proceeds as soon as possible.

Please see below my own submission and feel free to copy an paste the same to consultations@metrolink.ie

Myself and my family are fully supportive of the proposed MetroLink and the importance of proper transports link to Dublin City Centre and beyond. A much-needed service as we frequently commute and travel to Dublin City, south county and other areas that are serviced by or link to with the proposed MetroLink.

I wish to highlight and state the importance of the significant requirement of sufficient Park & Ride facilities at the Estuary (Lissenhall) Park N'Ride stop. Motorists coming from Balbriggan, Balrothery, Donabate, Rush, Lusk, Skerries, Dundalk and Drogheda must be catered for and secure in the knowledge parking will be available always especially peak times. Attention should be given to the possibility of shuttle busses to carry passengers around the Park & Ride facility.

The Park and Ride stop should also have a proper drop off and collection points for all types of bus services to allow efficient transfer of commuters.

Commuters north of the Park and Ride facility should be confident of a no hassle availability to arrive, alight and slip onto the MetroLink with ease and comfort. It should also be clear to tourists, visitors and event goers that MetroLink would be their first choice to begin outward journeys to key tourist destinations in Fingal and North Leinster.

Yours

Niall Keady
