Mayor opens Book of Condolence for R116 Crew

A Book of Condolence has been opened by the Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Darragh Butler, for the four crew members of the Fingal-based Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter R116 which crashed into the sea off Blackrock Island, Co Mayo, on March 14.

The Book is available for signing by members of the public during office hours at County Hall, Swords, and Civic Offices, Blanchardstown.

A minute’s silence was observed at the start of Council’s April meeting in memory of the four crew members. Winchman Ciarán Smith, a native of Swords and a resident of Oldtown, was one of those on board along with his colleagues Captain Dara Fitzpatrick, Captain Mark Duffy and Winch Operator Paul Ormsby.
