Conor Mc Guinness new Business Development Manager for Gormanston Park Ltd, the newly formed enterprise which has recently taken over management of the accommodation, catering and leisure facilities on the site of Franciscan College Gormanston.
Gormanston College ceased to exist as a private boarding school in June 2015, but continues as a secondary school within the free scheme under the Department of Education. With the termination of boarding, all the facilities related to the boarding aspect of the college now fall under the management of Gormanston Park Ltd. This new company has been working hard at modernizing and reviving those facilities.
Historically group accommodation has always been provided at Gormanston during the summer months. The Bee Keeping Federation of Ireland, Basketball Ireland, Stagewise Drama group and many more have been loyal patrons of the facility for many years. Gormanston Park Ltd now aims to offer group accommodation to groups nationally and internationally throughout all twelve months of the year, utilising the many facilities that are currently available along with the exciting new facilities planned as part of our development strategy.
Gormanston Park Ltd are in the planning stages of this development program and subject to planning permission Gormanston Park Ltd. will undergo a complete transformation which will include a dramatic and much needed face lift. The planned upgrades include a complete refurbishment of the swimming pool and pavilion area which will comprise of the main swimming pool and separate children’s pool, state of the art gym facilities which include a well-equipped weights room on the ground floor and a full cardio suite on the upper floor, a children’s soft play area with facilities for private parties all alongside a small coffee shop which will provide homemade and local artisan foods to those who visit.
The catering facilities and the Aras Preston sports complex will also be receiving significant upgrading along with the accommodation quarters in the former boarding area of the school.
