Brendan Ryan TD has been selected as the Labour Party candidate to contest the next General Election in Dublin Fingal.
The sitting TD, who retained his seat during the difficult 2016 General Election for Labour was selected at a meeting of the Dublin Fingal constituency in Murray's of Lusk,

Ryan speaking on the night said "I'm honoured and delighted to have been selected to contest the next General Election for the Labour Party. We don't know when the next election is going to be but we are always election ready in Dublin Fingal. We have never stopped knocking on doors and speaking with our constituents. That is why I believe, I remain as busy as ever and look forward to continuing that work and campaigning whenever the election is called" Cllr Duncan Smith proposed Brendan Ryan and has been his Director of Elections in 2011 and 2016 "Brendan has been a wonderful leader of our constituency over the past ten years. his dedication to the people of Fingal is a wonderful example to Councillors such as myself and Brian McDonagh" Cllr Brian McDonagh seconded the nomination of Brendan Ryan had this to say "Ever since I got elected in 2014 I've worked closely with Brendan Ryan. It was at a time when Portmarnock came back into the Dublin Fingal constituency and our teamwork in setting up a weekly advice clinic and working closely together on issues such as schools and Dublin Airport's second runway has made my job as a Councillor a lot easier. We are looking forward to the campaign"
