Fingal Public Participation Network Launch New Website and October Seminar/Training Schedule

The Fingal Public Participation Network (PPN) Website and Seminar/Training Schedule Launch took place on Wednesday 21st September at Draíocht Theatre Blanchardstown. Speakers on the night included Paul Reid, Chief Executive Fingal County Council and Alan Connolly, Coolmine Therapeutic Centre, Kieran O Neill and Maria Tormey Fingal PPN Secretariat.

The Public Participation Network provides a structure to facilitate the two way flow of information between Fingal County Council and Community, Voluntary and Environmental groups.

PPN members sit on decision making committees such as Strategic Policy Committees, the Joint Policing Committee and the Local Development Committee, and participate in policy making and plans for the future development of the county.

The website www.fingalppn.ie is an up to date source for information on the PPN network, with online meeting reports, a directory of local services and a platform where members can contact our representatives directly and get involved in decision making in their area.

Also launched on the night was the Training Programme for October 2016, community based training and seminars that support volunteers across Fingal.

Paul Reid Chief Executive Fingal County Council, Kieran O'Neill PPN, Pat Queenan Fingal County Council, Deputy Mayor Eithne Loftus, Maria Tormey PPN.

Kieran O Neill, PPN Secretariat, said; “To date the PPN has achieved much with the appointment of 19 community representatives to Fingal County Council decision making committees, namely Strategic Policy Committees, the Joint Policing Committee and the Local Community Development Committee. Representatives are bringing local issues and concerns to these meetings and feeding back regularly to our PPN members at Linkage Group meeting. This ensures, we remain connected to the communities we represent”

Pat Queenan, Principal Community Officer,Fingal County Council also commented; “ Voluntary groups are the backbone of communities in Fingal. From Sporting groups, Resident Associations, local art groups to coastal clean projects, all provide valuable services”, adding, “A Network of Community and Voluntary organisations is a very valuable forum as it allows like-minded groups to come together, share information and learn from each other”

If you would like to get involved in the PPN Network please contact Sinead Wiley, Resource Worker FPPN sinead.wiley@fingal.ie telephone 086 8123070.
