Fingal County Council activates Crisis Management Team and its Severe Weather Alert Team

Fingal County Council have issued a statement notifying the community that they have activated their Crisis Management Team and its Severe Weather Alert Team. Please pay attention to all the details below and heed warnings. Please look out for your neighbours and anyone that would be vulnerable.

Council prepares for Snow Storm

Fingal County Council has activated its Crisis Management Team and its Severe Weather Alert Team in response to the Severe Weather Warning issued by Met Eireann for the rest of the week.

The main focus will be on those essential routes within Fingal which need to be kept open in all weather conditions. These are classified as Priority 1 routes and are highlighted in red on the below map.

Priority 2 routes are shown on the second map and include regional and local routes that are the principal traffic, bus and commuter routes serving the principal residential, commercial and industrial areas in Fingal. We will endeavour to continue treating these roads as part of our normal winter service but, depending on conditions, there may be interruptions to this treatment programme.

Members of the public can submit reports of issues caused by snowfall and low temperatures to www.fixyourstreet.ie. Issues can also be phoned in to 01-8905000, which is manned on a 24/7 basis. These reports will be logged and assessed.

The Council plan to deploy all available resources, including the use of contractors, and 3,600 tonnes of salt was added this week to the existing supplies at the Coolmine and Swords Depots. Our mobilisation times will be 7pm and 4am but this may change depending on the on-going assessment of the situation.

At the moment all Council offices, community centres, libraries, parks, heritage properties and other public facilities remain open for the rest of the week but we will be posting updates as required through our usual communications channels including the Fingal Alerts App, our website, www.fingal.ie, and our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Citizens requiring further information on how to prepare for the impending snow storm should log on to www.emergency.ie. Within communities, contact should be made with elderly and vulnerable neighbours before, during and after the storm.
