Fingal County Council in conjunction with Balbriggan Community Liaison Committee hosted the Balbriggan St. Patricks Day Parade 2017. The Parade has been a great success over the years and has always had the support of the local community. Despite the weather not being great Local Community Groups, Scouts, Girl Guides, Brigins, Sporting Clubs and Business’s participated in this year’s parade with great enthusiasm and colour which brightened the spirits of the great crowd that lined the streets. Entertainment was provided on the review stand by Scoil Rince Culainn displaying some wonderful Irish Dancing.
The Grand Marshall for this year’s Parade was Eddie Darcy. Eddie was a popular choice amongst everybody for his tireless work in The Scouts. This was Eddies 70th parade to be involved with in Balbriggan, something few towns if any could rival, a great ambassador for Balbriggan.
The organisers wish to Thank 34th/161st Scout Troupe who provided the Colour Party, St Patricks Brass and Reed Band, Order of Malta Balbriggan unit who provided first aid and An Garda Siochana for traffic management duties.
The parade was attended by Mayor of Fingal Darragh Butler, Local Councillors, TD Brendan Ryan, Inspector Eddie Carroll, Members of the Community Liaison Committee, Business Representatives as well as local clergy.
