Coderdojo Balbriggan sent 5 of its members to Coolest Projects 2017 in the RDS, Jamie, Claire, Ben, Logan and Nathaniel joined more
than 800 kids and young people aged from six to 17, from 17 different countries, attended to present the projects they created at their local CoderDojos.
CoderDojo Coolest Projects was created to encourage, support and showcase the creativity within the CoderDojo community. With CoderDojo, young people can make their most exciting ideas a reality.
The Balbriggan Coderdojo has been up and running now for nearly 1 year at Castlelands Community Centre. The Coderdojo is held every 2 weeks and accommodates 25 – 30 Ninjas (that’s what young coders are called). The Balbriggan Coderdojo is supported by Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce.
CoderDojo believes that an understanding of programming languages is increasingly important in the modern world, that it’s both better and easier to learn these skills early, and that nobody should be denied the opportunity to do so! Any young person aged 7 – 17 can join and attend a Dojo for FREE! At a Dojo they will learn skills such as building a website, creating an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment. The Balbriggan Coderdojo Champion (Leader) is Eoin O’Neill and he and the other mentors are all volunteers and give their time freely to organise and hold each session.
The next CoderDojo will be the last before the summer break and they will be having an end of term party, thanks to Apache Pizza and www.niallkeady.com who will be providing free Pizza for all our Ninjas.
Massive demand for places at every Coderdojo does disappoint some. They do need more volunteers to help meet demand. Please contact the Coderdojo if you feel you could help out. Contact Balbriggan Coderdojo
The Coderdojo will be starting up again in September to ensure you are in line to be notified to book a place at the next Coderdojo you must sign up here www.coderdojobalbriggan.com
