Represented
Ireland on 151 occasions ! Our Tommy Caffrey. |
Tommy
Caffrey is a quiet, unassuming individual, who has,
without doubt, brought fame and glory to the town
of Balbriggan, with a long and distinguished career
in Table Tennis.
He has played the game he loves so well, from humble
beginnings in a small shed in Stamullen, to the old
Hall behind St George’s Church, and on to venues
all across the world, which most of us would only
ever dream of seeing. |
|
Tommy is, of course, very well known,
also, for his jewellery business in the town.
He, along with his family, friends and many others, gathered
in the Bracken Court Hotel to hear Pauline O’Hare,
of the Balbriggan and District Historical Society, deliver
an excellent commentary and tribute. People from the Table
Tennis world travelled from all parts of the country to
hear the story of his life and anecdotal stories which highlighted
how worthy Tommy is of our complete and utter admiration.
 |
No surprise again
that he continues to train, practise, play and win,
in the Veteran class now, as well as adding his voice
in support of the recent development to get the game
back to its former glory here in Balbriggan. |
