Balbriggan's New Actress

Sinead Monaghan is Balbriggan's latest shining star in the performing arts. One of the new breed of young stage performers Sinead will be taking part in The Dublin Theatre Festival (Fringe) in the highly acclaimed production of "Womb" by Rachel Rogers.

The production takes place at the Andrews Lane Studio each evening from Monday 19th September to Saturday 24th at 6.15pm. The play is set in a ward of a Dublin maternity hospital and deals with such issues as drugs and racism.
Sinead can be seen giving a very touching performance as a young and very naïve pregnant girl who has become addicted to drugs.
As the saying goes "its not off the ground she licked it". Both Sinead's parents, Phyllis and Tommy, are accomplished performers on the amateur scene.

She entered into the acting scene in Dublin after graduating with a Diploma from Colaiste Dhulaigh having spent three years studying in the Theatre Studies module. Her interest in the performing Arts is obvious when one looks at her curriculum vitae. From childhood onwards Sinead has attended such artistic establishments as Diggis Lane, The Billie Barrie Stage School, The Parnell School of Music, Betty Anne Norton, Lamda, The Gaiety School of Acting. Currently she attends the The Attic Studio Workshops.

Sinead has performed in plays such as "Who Knows?" "Everyman" "Hitchikers" "St Joan" (at the Samuel Beckett Theatre Trinity College) and "The Maids".

She is no stranger to the cinematic art either having taken part in several "shorts" such as "The Negotiator" "No More Lies" "Ten" "Jesus In The Toolshed" "Hill 16", the latter featuring in this years Galway Film Festival.

This could be the break that Sinead and her young colleagues from the Attic Studio Productions have waited for and she is appealing to all her friends in Balbriggan for support by becoming part of the audience on any evening next week.

Why not hop into the Andrews Lane Theatre after work some evening (6.15). It will be well worth the visit to see Balbriggan's own Sinead Monaghan performing in  "WOMB"
