Wedding Competition on 98FM.
Local couple,Caitriona & John, were one of the 5 couples in a competition on a Dublin Radio station with a chance to win a wedding worth € 50.000. Voting was by text or on-line and at one stage Caitriona & John were way ahead of the other couples. Unfortunately, due to what 98FM called "Voting Irregularities", voting was suspended, all the couples names were put in a hat, and one of the other couples were picked out. 26.02.06

Jack Benton update
Yesterday Jack Benton returned to the hospital who cared for him when he broke his hip in an unfortunate accident on Christmas Day and the specialist was astounded at his recovery rate. Jack, as usual, was unfazed and said he was keeping positive and would be fighting fit in no time at all. Jack is using one crutch as an aid when walking ... 'just to take the weight off the old leg', as he puts it. Not bad for a guy only a short time from his 80th birthday and who had a plate and three screws fitted to his hip only 6 weeks ago. We at Balbriggan.net continue to wish him well and look forward to his full recovery. 21.02.06JC

Gallens Mill House---Now Gone.
Mill House was demolished last week to make way for a car park at the new development on Mill Street. Apparently the house was in a bad state of repair and had to come down. Normally we only have exterior photos of such buildings before demolition but thanks to John Cumisky, of Cumisky Auctioneers, he arranged with the builders for Tony Healy to extensively photograph every room in the house. Various fixtures had already been removed but we are delighted to have been given the opportunity to record the inside decor. The house had four levels including the basement and we bring you two photos of the inside here, more will follow. Click on the thumbnail to view the house over the various years. 14.02.06
