Welcome to the town of Balbriggan. Where in Europe is Balbriggan? Click Here to find out. Our Lighthouse GPS location is, N53°36'46.68 and W6°10'42.18. Photos, News and History. Updated daily. Balbriggan, Baile Brigín, meaning Town of the Small Hills, is currently going through a huge development stage with literally thousands of houses being built at the northern end of the town. Plans are well advanced to develop the Harbour area also. The aim of this site is to inform those interested in the town and to help bring about a community spirit. We understand that feelings run high about certain issues of late but these are outside the scope of this site.

On our "Photos" page has been removed and now all photos are accessed through the "News" page and the various Archive News pages. In order to stop the News page from becoming too large, we archive now every month so if you know there was something on the site in say January, go to the news page and select January at the bottom of the page. Photos are a big part of our site and we are constantly adding new ones. A lot of the photos are by the site team Jack Benton, Joe Curtis, Martin Fanning, Tony Healy and Ronan Carey. No photographs can be used from this site without written permission.

Our "History"page is really self explanatory, from the earliest mention of Balbriggan to the businesses that created much needed employment in years gone by. Also on this page is a virtual walk of the town with photos to help get a sense of what's been discussed. Trevor Sargent gives a detailed description of St. Georges Church & School. We also have a feature on Tommy Monaghan, local playwright on this page. Smyth & Co, Balbriggan 1780-1980, we take an in dept look at this famous company, their garments were so good that Queen Victoria used to wear them. The Black & Tans were stationed at Gormanston in the early 1900's and it was they who were responsible for the Sack of Balbriggan in 1920. Click here learn more of the "Black & Tans"

The "News" page is the most important page on the site. If we make any changes to any part of the site, we announce it on the News page. So if you are a regular visitor to this site, just check this page for the latest updates.

Where Balbriggan.net really scores over other web sites of the town is that our site is updated almost on a daily basis. If you are a member of a club and have an up and coming event, just let us know and we will publicise it on our news page free of charge.
The "Links" page will contain links to other web sites that are relevant to the local community. For example the local Historical Society, local schools web sites etc.

In order to inform those with an interest in the town, we are always looking for information, photographs(don't worry about the quality, we can repair it), any information at all is greatly received and credit is given if requested. Do you know anything about the Sacking of Balbriggan that you would like to share, or the building of the Railway, anything at all. We have added a guest book to sign so don't be afraid to sign it. Constructive criticism is always welcome, This site is best viewed at screen resolution 1024 by 768(Click Start, control panel, display, settings then screen resolution). If you are using Netscape(Rather than Internet Explorer)and are experiencing difficulties, please let us know.

So, to recap, everything appears on the "News Page" and we archive every month. The web site is now so popular that we receive over 200 hits a day.
