The Drogheda Independent’s archives of 4th August, 1945, on the occasion of the original course opening, states “The greatest benefit of the course will be to those who never played a game. These will now be able to learn the art on a pleasant course which is not full of pitfalls for a beginner and which should give many hours of enjoyment to the young and old in Balbriggan and district.” Today, Balbriggan can’t promise players no pitfalls - with so many water features and other challenges - but it can promise many hours of enjoyment both on the course and at the 19th hole!!
