comment: G'day everyone, I love looking at Balbriggan.net, what a fantastic job you are all doing. We really enjoyed the pic's etc on the Sunshine home. I grew up in the Naul and went to school in the Loreto Secondary College (happy days!!) My husband and I have recorded an album (a story book album titled 'The Life of Matilda Flynn - Balbriggan to Ballarat') set back in the 1800's telling the story of a young girls journey through life. The first song on the album features the SUNSHINE home. We have uploaded six of the songs from our album of 14songs onto our MySpace page (www.myspace.com/storytellerau). We would love to hear your thoughts and would love to invite all of you that like what you hear to be friends on our myspace page. On this page there is a blog that details the story on Matilda Flynn. If you would like any more info on the album please leave a comment on our my space page or contact us on our hotmail address. Big hello to the Staff @ the Loreto (Principal Eddie Fynnes thought me History back in the late 80â s), Hickey's (@McNallys Funeral services) and all the Flynn, Guildea, Clarke families that live in Balbriggan/Naul and all my old school friends. Can't wait to hear from you. To all the crew at Balbriggan.net keep up the good work!!!!

I lived in Balbriggan up until I was 18 and then moved up here the big smoke, Ive been hardly ever back in the 2 years since i left, but its good to know i can use the website to keep in the loop... Slightly Ironic fact, for those of you who Know my uncle Jim Walsh (most people in balbriggan do LOL) well anyway, one of the first libarys he worked in at the start of his career was Pearse Street, and now, god knows how many years later, im living accross the road from it... Maybe i'm following in your footsteps Jim... anyway pointless information but there you go... Il be down enjoying a few pints in Macormacks on saturday night with the Walsh clan, to help my uncle Myles celebrate his 50th birthday... It will be great to get a good balbriggan pint again!!!

Great website, I try to visit it every week and love it. The only part I dont like is the ugly balbriggan.net in the pictures. Please please please reduce the balbriggan.net logo on the pictures. Fantasic pictures and I think they ruin them slightly. Keep up the great work!! Jo.

comment: Best Wishes on the New Guestbook. Balbriggan.net is my daily Irish fix. I love to walk the beach before I start my day. Thank you for all your hard work. You should know what a difference it makes for all former Brigs to see what is happening for many people we knew growing up. It keeps us closer to home and brings back many great memories. I hope to be walking the actual beach this coming Wednesday. So excited. Caith

I am the VTOS co-ordinator for Balbriggan and we run a 2 year part time business studies course. I was wondering if you could mention on your website that we are now taking applications for places on the course starting in September 2008. Could you put a link to our website on your website also, it is www.fingaladulteducation.ie. People interested in all training options can access the website. If they are interested in VTOS they can click on that link to learn about the course. There are brochure on our website available for download and they contain all information to help decide if the course is for you. We are part of County Dublin VEC. Kind regards.Joanne Russel.

Just saw the most fantastic photo of Mrs Murtagh in her shop. I remember she used to also do security in the old cinema with that famous torch of hers, there was no chance of anyone getting up to anything in the dark with her on duty. Even though I or any of my pals knew Mrs Murtagh personally, walking home from school would never be same if we didnt have a look in the shop window everyday to see if anything changed. Looking at the photo is actually quiet sad now. Well done for that photo its amazing. x

I was at a school re-union last year in the Harvest for past pupils of the Tech. I had a brilliant time and it was great to meet old school friends again. It brought back a lot of old memories. I'm just here to say hi to all those again and I've left my e-mail address if anyone would like to make contact. I'm married with 2 kids & living in Cork and working in the Navy for the last 18 years (3 more for the pension!). Occasionally I find myself up in Balbriggan so if any old mates want to meet up for a beer etc to talk about old times I'd love to.

wonderful site! I enjoyed reading about St George's Church & School. My Grandfather Malby Lewis was baptised there and most likely attended school there as well. I believe he must have lived on one of the estates as his parents were listed as a coachman & servant on their marriage certificate. He was born in 1884, we've never figured out where the name "Malby" came from, any tips would be appreciated!

He's great, he makes me laugh and is always buying me and my brother and sister sweets which is fab. The harbour, beach and places to eat are our favourite parts. Jumping on the train to Dublin is brill too, but most of all tea at Auntie Sheila's is the best.... We love Ireland, particularly Balbriggan, especially the Kiernan's.... PS for those who have never been to Balbriggan, you're missing out, it's a wonderful place, the people are great and there's lots to do. Love you Grandad Olliexxxx

Born in Skerries Street just oppsite Church Street in 1947 now in the UK and using the net to prove that balbriggan was a knitted cotton fabric used in the making of underwear ect. I came across the site which I found to be both interesting and informative. My grandfather Tom Cunningham (High St) was a signalman at the station and watch over us as we played on the beach (I'm pretty sure he's also second row far right on the Balbriggan Pioneers 1935 photograph).Good to see the exciting development which has come on apace since my last visit in 96. Best of luck for the future JR
