As the story goes my great grandfather was soomething to do with the the coastguard at Balbriggan and my grandfather was born in Balbriggan. My grandfather's name was James Edward Edwin CHASE. He would have been born in or around 1902. My great grandfather probably around 1860/70. My father tells me his name would also probably have been James or Jim as it was a name passed on through the family. Would be grateful if anyone has any information or can point me in the right direction. Many thanks. Maybe we could put the funds for the night to a good cause ie, Garry Kelly Cancer Support Center in Drogheda. I would be more than happy to donate €1,000 to get the event of the ground. I saw the photo of the kids with 2 nuns taken between '68-70 and I remember 3 of them. Martina Marry, Naimh Gamble and Corina Downes, I'm a bit taken aback at the minute. I was there from 1973-1978 and Sr. Barnarda was my aunt. I have often wondered how everybody got on. Had a call and letter a number of years ago from Collette Wherrity about a reunion but the weekend clashed with prior important engagement, I was so sorry to miss it. If I find any old photos I will try to upload them. Perhaps it will spark more memories for some. I am in Donegal now, I am an artist painting Land/Seascapes. I am married and have one son. I have looked at this site before,I think you already have my email but the reason I came back today is because, I was contacted by Will Hand of Bradford NHS UK about a family of Connolly's from Main Street, Balbriggan, I will forward on his email address if you would like to contact him, or perhaps he has already done so. The nicknames had me laughing. I used to visit relatives in the 60's (the Kelly's of Craoibhin Park) and remember an old fella going around on a bike at nights, blowing a whistle. My cousin Maureen told me his nickname was The Pee. My mother Eileen Clinch was born in Chapel Street in 1918 but came to England in 1940 and married my father, Denis Prior, in 1947. She went on to have 4 children - me, Derek, Tim and Nicola. My mother passed away 6 years ago, on the 21st August 2001. Her youngest sister Rose still lives in Leeds, but she's the last of the large Clinch family from Balbriggan. My Auntie Fanny (Kelly)lived in Craoibhin Park and passed away in the 1980's, but her husband Joe Kelly still lives there. My cousins Maureen and Iris also still live in the town and their brother Brendan lives in Naul with his wife Terry. I remember so well a coffee bar in the square called Malloca's. They used to make great milkshakes. I live on the outskirts of London now and would love to spend time in Balbriggan again - but family care commitments prevent this from happening. So to all my relatives - a big 'hello' and the the dedicated Webmasters responsible for this excellent website - thanks and keep up the good work. guest book entry from 22.08.2007 at 10:12:42 to Tony E-mail: paulgcullen@eircom.net Name: Paul Cullen ----------------------------------------------- comment: Congratulations to Phillip Scannell and Linda Fanning on their big day last Saturday...Hope the Happy Couple have a terrific future together!!! This was the year I did....well, I turned up for my own leaving cert. Now, the words "school reunion" give me the willies, but if you did get released on good behavior from the tech in 1992 drop me a line at brandon1974edwards@hotmail.com, maybe we can organise a few beers and a lecture on algebra and why its totally useless in the real world. I returned many times to Balbriggan when my parents were alive but not recently until two years ago. I was amazed to find that it was like an overspill town for Dublin and some of the old buildings had been demolished which is a shame. Why can't Ireland have a preservation order on some buildings instead of just knocking them down the whole place has lost its character.
