Does anyone remember the three Coyne brothers John,Brian and Gerry? We still talk about our wonderful summers in Balbriggan. Can any one say a big hello to Freddie and Trisha Mcgarrigle,My great friend Frank Meehan any of the other Gorbals boys who settled in the town.I was talking to my cousin the other day(George Gilchrist)and we were remembering the time him and Gerry Slowy jumped off the bus bawling there eyes out because they were leaving their sweethearts behind,ha ha.It was 1970/71 I think.Georges girl was Theresa Guildea. Some of the other people i remember, are, big slim cochrane, the Kenny,s ,the Dunne Family,my brother Brian was in love with Eileen, she was beautiful as was margaret in fact all the Dunne girls where Beautiful. George Mari, who came to see u2 with us in 1985,his brother Dingo,he used to frighten us to death with ghost stories. The two Walsh brothers, great guys.the Naga, the rua,the girl cochrane,Trisha Tuert. Eileen kenny. All fantastic people. If iv,e missed anyone out,my appologies. I,ll check out the site from time to time, meanwhile if anyone remembers me or my brothers, drop me a line and say hello. My family is form there and Skerries i am told. It would be nice to get info. I am planning a trip. I would be the first of the family to return since the 1840s. I don't know whether or not the name was changed from Harman to Harmon when my great Grandfather and his brothers got here, but he met a Jane Bissett on the boat over and married her. Any info would be welcomed. Chris.

Hi,
I just returned yesterday from my fourth visit to Balbriggan. My Mother, Mary Veronica Tousius (nee McComb) was born on High Street in 1927 and emigrated to the United States in 1947.
I was told about this site from my cousin, Anne McGee (nee Weldon) and enjoyed viewing it and learning more about Balbriggan. It is a great site full of knowledge.
I have lived in NYC, USA all my life. I`m very proud of my Irish heritage and hope to visit Ireland and Balbriggan again.

I was delighted to find a web page dedicated to my new home. I returned to Ireland 18 Months ago after a few years abroad. I am a 37 year old (Presently Unemployed) Graphic Designer/Printer. Both my son's go to school here in Balbriggan, although Rory, my youngest, starts his first year of "big" school in september.

Unfortunatley I was injured in a cycling accident shortly after arriving home but hope to be back on my feet soon.

Thank you for putting an effort into keeping a community spirit in a beautiful town.

I was wondering if you knew where I could find a recent map of the area Preferably in 'Vector' format (Illustrator EPS or Corel) that I could Download from the internet.
Once again I thank you for your lovely site.

I had the great pleasure to meet Martin Fanning yesterday at the East Region Special Olympics and when he told me he was from Balbriggan, my first reaction was, " the home of "the Strangers", not realising that he was Jimmy's brother, an aquantance of mine in the music scene of the 60's/70's.
Your site is excellent and I will visit Balbriggan soon.
ps a photo of Balbriggan's famous sons (the Strangers) would be a fitting tribute to people who helped put the town on the musical map.

I lived in Balrothery until I was about 20 years of age, now live in the sunny shores of Perth, Western Australia, although today's top temp is around 15 - we think that is freezing.

Anyway was wondering if anyone out there knows the whereabouts of Rosemary McCabe, I went to the tech with her - she was a wild child but I got on well with her.

Cheers for now and thanks for your website, I often log in.

I can't believe it; just saw the photo that was submitted from 1948. I saw my Dad's name in the description and sure enough when I click on the link, he stood out right away. It's funny how we change over the years. My dad is 70 in December and photo's like this will make him very happy. I grew up not knowing much about his youth in balbriggan. However thanks to Balbriggan.net and its visitors, we now have pictures of my Grandfather and my dad from way back when. Thank you so much. Please keep posting any photo's that you find (especially to do with the Sheridan Family (Hampton Street), as history can not be repeated but definitely remembered and cherished.

Hi all in Balbriggan!
I'm studying in Munich, Germany at the moment so if you havn't seen me of late now you know why! Great website. The design is particularly impressive. Can't wait to see everyone again- it's been too long. I recently heard that there's a few high-profile acts booked in to play at Ardgillan. I couldn't believe it at first. What an honour. It should really put Balbriggan on the map. Anyway I better go now. Just want to say that everyone in Balbriggan should really appreciate the town while they're living there. I'm in Munich and it's a great city of culture but believe it doesn't touch Balbriggan for atmosphere and multi-culturalism. Anyway thanks for the website- it's really cool!

Have just visited the site and am shocked to see the apartments down around the harbour. I was in Balbriggan in August last year and I can't get over the changes in those few months. My sister Kathleen is Martin Fanning's wife and it was great to see her in the photo section at their niece's wedding in Scotland. Also I discovered an entry from my nephew Keith Ryan in Australia so I now have his email address and will be corresponding with him as I live in New Zealand. The website is fantastic and getting better all the time

Brilliant. I will be posting some photos of the lads in "The Harbour Inn" Summer 1987 and 1988. Classics. Also some from when we worked in Careys Supermarket after school and on Saturdays. Alan Carey, Derek Purcell, Paul McKenna and myself. Of course we inheritied the mantle from Brian Carey and Derek Tolan. Them lads were cool then! You would have loved to be as cool as them!!!!

Hi all, my name is Gerry (Ger) Sheridan, formerly from Fancourt Road now living in Melbourne, Australia. My Dad still lives in fancourt road, and my sis lives down in covetown. I grew up in balbriggan in the 70's and 80's. Visiting your site has brought back so many fond memories. I did a search on google for bablbriigan and first up was your site.

Memories of home have been close to my heart of late due to the death of a very good friend of mine. And I suppose living so far away, you just want to feel like you are still there sometimes. My friend, I want to let you know that, I always think of you and that you made my first 17 years of my life in balbriggan the best years of my life.

I have so many questions to ask of your visitors to your site and information that I want to find out about my relatives, for example, my grand dad had a shop opposite carey's supermarket in the 50's and 60's. I would like to find out more about it and if anyone had photo's of it. Anyway I hope to hear from anyone that might remember me or would like to find out info on where I live now.

Cheers

Gerry

Hi,
I am very impressed with your site its great to see so many pictures both old and new of Balbriggan. It's amazing how much the town has changed over the years since I left in '85.It's also interesting to read different peoples comments it brings back so many memories and rekindles images of both people and places.I am the son of Mr Jack \[now deceased\] and Mrs Anne Matthews of Clonard St.I grew up in Balbriggan and "you can take the man out of Balbriggan but never Balbriggan \[and its influences out of the man\]".I have fond memories of the town and it's people.Keep up the good work your providing a very valuable social service to those of us who are now overseas.Keep posting those pics I am sure there must be more pics of the boy scouts on the annual camps we used to go on.\[Come on Bootsy any pics from my first camp in Buncloudy when i was inthe cubs and you were the scout master?\].I better stop typing or this could become a best selling novel.Hello to all those who may know me.Keep up the good work.Regards John
