The
under 15 Match Play Panel at Balbriggan Golf Club |
| We
have come to our end of year for the juvenile section. It has been
a long year for this section starting as early as February with
our under 15 team, and in March we had the Fingal Foursomes and
quite a few outside competitions for our other members. Our under
15 team this year did tremendously well and reached the last 8 in
Leinster, only to be beaten by Balcarrick for the last 4 in Leinster.
Well done boys. Also thanks must go to Chris our Assistant Club
pro. who put in a lot of coaching with the boys. |

The
Fingal Trophy Panel at Balbriggan Golf Club |
| Our
team in the Fingal Trophy played matches each Monday morning throughout
the summer months at different clubs. The last outing was at Forrest
Little and we went into this last competition on level scoring with
Turvey. Unfortunately on the day we were beaten into second place
by two points and again the cup was taken from our grasp. |

Captain
David O'Connor with Ronan Carey, the most improved player |
| The
Squire Ennis trophy had to be postponed but we managed to fit it
in before all the boys went back to school. We had a hugh amount
of players taking part, 115 in total and representation from all
surrounding clubs as far as Blackbush. Some clubs even submitted
two teams. The winners on the day being Beaverstown B team with
Balbriggan A in second and Balbriggan B in third place. Many thanks
to the Ennis family for their continued support and sponsorship
for this competition. |

Cillian Martin and Gavin Foran |
| Unfortunately,
the Alliance Cup (Hanley Cup) had to be postponed due to bad weather
and we hope to run this over the mid term break at Halloween. Again
many thanks to John Lyons for his generous sponsorship and a fantastic
new cup which hopefully can be presented to the winner at Halloween. |

For
the Wavin Cup this year we had 32 of our lowest handicap boys
fighting it out for a place in the final. This proves to be a
very competative competition with this year’s winner being
Hugh Devlin Jnr. who overcame Eoghan Cassin. A hugh thanks must
go to Wavin Ireland for their sponsorship and many thanks to Michael
O’Donoghue who was in attendance to present the cup.

Captain
David O'Connor with Eoin Sweeney |
| Our juvenile girls continue
to grow and this year they took part in the Fingal Trophy. The girls
meet every Tuesday evening. |
|
Captin
David O'Connor with Stephen Treacy who won "The Captains'
Prize" |
| This
year we entered six boys in an under 13 series that was taking place
in Donabate Golf Club run by the Golfing Union of Ireland. Three
boys came from our Juvenile ranks and three from our Cadet section
(8 to 11 year olds). We are very proud that one of our Cadet members
Stephen Sharp won the Leinster Regional final in the 9 hold competition.
Due to the dedication of Philip Treacy who started off the Cadet
Section last year, we have some promising golfers coming through
the ranks into the juvenile section. |

have a hugh amount of people to thank this year :
First of all to all
those who helped throughout the summer months on Mondays stewarting
the course i.e. Frank and Clare Kenny, Martin Carey, Fergus Mullen,
Ann McEvoy and Anna Hannon.
On Tuesday evenings
with the girls we had Beatrice Magee, Noreen Keeling, Margaret
O’Brien, Ann Carton to name but a few.
To Nigel, Christopher
and Rory in the Pro Shop for all the valuable coaching that they
have given to the juveniles each Monday.

Assistant
Pro Christopher Cullen with Cormac White |
| To the
Counsel for all their help whenever we needed it and in particular
to David O’Connor, Captain who has been around constantly
supporting the juveniles in all their quests for silverware.
To our Juvenile Captain,
Ian Reynolds who has been a great ambassador for the club and
we wish him all the very best in his future studies to become
a doctor.
The Juvenile Committee
of John Scully, Chairman, Pat McGrath, Barbara Kenny, Pat Casey
and Eamon O’Brien can now breath a hugh sign of relief that
we have once again reached the end of season and we can now sit
back and enjoy our retirement (at least for a month or so).
