Fingal County Childcare Committee Seeks Community Reps

The Fingal County Childcare Committee was established in 2001 as one of the 33 County/City Childcare Committees now operating across Ireland. FCCC was formed to act in an advisory capacity to all childcare services in Fingal County and to provide advice, information and assistance on a wide variety of topics in the childcare field. The FCCC also administers the National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP) Capital Funding for Fingal in collaboration with the Office for the Minister for Children and Youth affairs (OMCYA) and Pobal. The FCCC is a company limited by guarantee and is a standing sub-committee of the Fingal County Development Board.

Currently the board is under re-development and is seeking community representation for a variety of positions.  In particular, a vacancy exists for a chairperson to lead the committee.  This would be an ideal position for a person who is retired or with some free time who has worked in a managerial and development role in the past.  Fundamentally, volunteering is about giving your time, energy and skills freely. What better way is there to connect with your community and give a little back? As a volunteer in Fingal County Childcare Committee you can give a little back to society by supporting Fingal in providing quality, affordable childcare to all families living in the area. You can gain experience and ultimately fulfil a desire to help others and improve the quality of life for young children and families.

FCCC are also seeking parent representatives from parents who are using childcare for their children.  The valuable input a parents’ insight has into the role childcare should play and does play in children’s lives contributes greatly to the work of the Fingal County Childcare Committee.  For this reason, strong parent reps are essential to the development of the committee’s board of Directors.

The role of the Fingal County Childcare Committee (FCCC) is to co-ordinate, support and assist the development of quality childcare services in Fingal County.  If you think this may be something you are interested in joining please get in contact.  Further information about the organisation can be sourced through the website www.fingalcountychildcare.ie or by contacting Committee Member, Helen Duffy at 01 8020482.  Full volunteer role descriptions are available.
