This was only
discovered 'officially' when my father applied for a copy
of his birth certificate when he wanted to marry my mother.
Their honeymoon was spent trying to discover his past which,
sadly, he never got to the bottom of.
My mum died last year and I brought my younger sister back
to Ireland to see where I was born in Cork. This year, in
my dad's memory, we are going to try and find out how and
why both his parents abandoned him. It's a sad story, and
I wondered if it would be worth starting my search in your
lovely location. My grandfather was known by 2 names: Victor
Doyle and James Mc Dowell-Doyle of Main Street, Balbriggan.
Occupation: Commercial Traveller. Married: Mary Cullen of
Donnybrook & they had my dad, Patrick Joseph on 9th
Aug 1920 in Dublin. A fine man, and I'd like to know why
they left him! Many thanks, I do hope you can point me in
the right direction, Mrs. Colette Connolly
