| Gerard
is the first Bracken Club boxer to represent his country
when he competed in an Ireland v England tournament held
in Dungarvan last May. He stopped the British Champion in
two rounds. Both boxers were presented with awards by the
Mayor. Chairman and founder member of the club, Greg Kenny
was also presented with an award on behalf of the club.
Present at the civic reception were Cathaoirleach of Balbriggan
Town Council, Councillor Sean Brown, the elected members
of the County Council and Town Council along with club representatives
and family members. Gerard repeated this great success again
at the 2008 All-Ireland Championship held in the National
Stadium in April when he won the boys 2 category -52Kgs. |
