SARGENT WELCOMES AGREEMENT FROM
FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL TO LOCATE A LITTER BIN ON THE PIER AT BALBRIGGAN

Local T.D. and Green Party Leader Trevor Sargent has requested Fingal County Council to have a bin located on the pier at Balbriggan near the lighthouse, given the popularity for the public to walk and the need to provide some receptacle to prevent littering in the area.

In response to this request a spokesperson from the Environment Department indicated that “it is our intention to install a bin at this location on a pilot basis in an effort to eliminate litter. We will monitor the progress of the bin and if it is successful it will be left in situ permanently.”

“I am glad that Fingal County Council has appreciated the need for a bin at this location and I hope that it can be left in situ as Balbriggan is a growing town and the growing number of visitors also make it essential that more bins are provided” said Deputy Sargent.
