Balbriggan Town Council held its Annual Awards Night on Thursday 20th November 2008 in the Bracken Court Hotel.

An Cathaoirleach Councillor Sean Brown and the members of the Town Council presented a number of awards to individuals and groups in recognition of their contribution to community life in Balbriggan.

The Stephen Scarff Perpetual Award which recognises outstanding service in the community was awarded to Balbriggan Garda Drug Division for their dedication, perseverance and commitment.

The Town Councillors Special Award was awarded to Remember US.

The Cathaoirleach’s Award was awarded to the Bracken Clinic, a medical practice in Dublin Street which started in 2005.

Special tributes were paid to Garda Peter Mc Coy and Hugh Cumisky, Cumisky Auctioneers following their recent retirements.

The Balbriggan Enterprise and Training Centre (B.E.A.T.) also came in for special praise by the Town Council.

Councillor Sean Brown also paid tribute to 8yr old, Harry Maguire for his outstanding bravery in assisting the emergency services when his mother took ill and required urgent medical assistance.
