Local man Andrew Grafton was selected
in the auditions late last year. He was selected for the
Work-Shop phase and then worked with the Musical Director
and sang a number of different songs for the judges. That’s
Linda Martin, Brendan O’Connor and Thomas Black and
singing to impress them is no mean feat.
Then our Andrew went forward to the public vote along with
5 others in his particular week and he was voted through
to the final 12.
Andrew is 21 years of age and he is currently studying Music
in the Dundalk Institute of Technology. He is multi talented
playing guitar, bass, drums, the mandolin and the tin whistle!
He first got interested in music when he was a kid growing
up in Balbriggan and his neighbour played the guitar and
he thought he was cool!
The show will be aired on Sunday 14th January at 6.30 pm
on RTE 1 and when talking to Brian Howley, the young star
commented ‘I am delighted with the reaction from Balbriggan
people so far and would like to thank Balbriggan.net for
helping me with all of this publicity’.
So come on all of the Balbriggan faithful and lets vote
one of our own in!
