The Code of Conduct of the Accreditation Body
CODE OF CONDUCT
The following extract is taken from ECMK's Accreditation Scheme's Code of Conduct. A copy of the full version can be obtained on request.

The Code of Conduct is designed to support all those undertaking energy assessments in compliance with the European Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings and consequent UK regulations and legislation and to help them to maintain professional standards.

The Code is also intended to reassure the general public and other interested parties that assessments are carried out in a professional and ethical manner.

These are the core principles of the Code of Conduct

  • 1. DEAs will conform to all relevant national and international laws
  • 2. DEAs will behave ethically and will not do anything which might damage the reputation of EPC Ltd.
  • 3. DEAs will take special care when carrying out assessments amongst children and other vulnerable groups of the population.
  • 4. Clients' cooperation is voluntary and must be based on adequate, and not misleading, information about the general purpose and nature of the assessment.
  • 5. DEAs will never allow personal data they collect in an assessment to be used for any purpose other than to produce an EPC or report for that assessment.
  • 6. DEAs will ensure that assessments and associated activities are designed, carried out, reported and documented accurately, transparently, objectively and to an appropriate quality.
  • 7. DEAs will conform to the accepted principles of fair competition.
