how you may retrieve it from the national database
What happens to your EPC and
NATIONAL EPC REGISTER
The EPC information for all buildings in the UK is held in a National Register.
Landmark Information Group Limited are the current registery operators on behalf of the Government. They hold the information on an electronic database.
There are already over 1 million entries in the register as of October 2008. A person holding an EPC (eg owners or tenants) can verify its authenticity in the register.
They can do so using the reference number on the Certificate and checking it against the entry stored under that number in the register.
The register is split into two parts:
- one for dwellings
- other for non-dwellings.
Access to the register is restricted to :
- enforcement bodies
- accreditation bodies
- government (only to anonymised data)
- those who have the unique building reference number
