and the assurances it offers you as a client
The accreditation scheme for Domestic Energy Assessors
ACCREDITATION
Safeguards

In order to practise DEAs must first successfully complete a diploma course and then gain accreditation with one of the Government approved accreditation schemes.

These schemes are in place as a safeguard to all the parties involved directly in house purchase, sale or rental. In other words to safeguard landlords, tenants, home buyers and sellers alike. The schemes are designed to ensure that DEAs:

  • are qualified to conduct an energy assessment, produce the certificate and give advice
  • follow the proscribed SAP1 or rdSAP2 procedures
  • have undergone and satisfied a CRB (criminal record bureau) check
  • hold professional indemnity insurance
  • are currently registered on the the accreditation scheme's register
  • adhere to the Code of Conduct laid down by the accreditation scheme
  • operate a complaints procedure.
